Ogham-Ireland’s Ancient Script
Ogham writing is Ireland’s Ancient script, often found inscribed on standing stones and in sacred places throughout Ireland’s rural landscape.
Ethel Kelly’s award winning range of hand painted OGHAM WISHES continue to enchant and delight. Each Ogham is individually crafted by Ethel at her traditional workshop in Knockcroghery village in County Roscommon, Ireland. Written on hand made paper in a contemporary black wooden frame. They are quite charming in their simplicity!
While uniquely Celtic, Ogham Wishes have a universal appeal. Each Ogham gift is accompanied by an explanatory text outlining the history of Ogham writing with the Gaelic and English translations. Ogham Wishes artistically celebrate Ireland’s ancient culture and heritage.

My entrepreneurial journey began at age 11 in my mother's dress shop in Northern Ireland. After moving to America following a field hockey romance in 1978, I was working as a Civil Engineer in Pennsylvania. When my Dad was diagnosed with a terminal illness, I realized how difficult it was to squeeze in trips back home. Dad's illness became the catalyst for starting a business that would allow me to travel home routinely.
In February 1985, Donegal Square was born—a cultural bridge inspired by my Irish upbringing. Over the decades, my wife Linda and I have developed the shop and helped establish the Celtic Cultural Alliance and Celtic Classic Festival. Today, we've created a warm haven where visitors are "instantly transported across the Atlantic to Ireland...no passport required," offering authentic Celtic gifts in an atmosphere that feels like visiting the old country with friends.
