The Hope For Life Ribbon was designed so each of the six vibrant colors has a significance. Pink represents Breast Cancer, light blue for Prostate Cancer, lime green for Lymphoma, lavender for All Cancers, white for Lung Cancer, and Purple to honor Caregivers.
Once the tartan was developed, Donegal Square enlisted its customer base to name the tartan. The name “Hope for Life” was chosen because of our hope that someday cancer research will result in a cure.
These one of a kind tartan items are handcrafted in Scotland of 100% wool. A generous portion of the profit from the sale of these products will benefit the American Cancer Society and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

My entrepreneurial journey began at age 11 in my mother's dress shop in Northern Ireland. After moving to America following a field hockey romance in 1978, I was working as a Civil Engineer in Pennsylvania. When my Dad was diagnosed with a terminal illness, I realized how difficult it was to squeeze in trips back home. Dad's illness became the catalyst for starting a business that would allow me to travel home routinely.
In February 1985, Donegal Square was born—a cultural bridge inspired by my Irish upbringing. Over the decades, my wife Linda and I have developed the shop and helped establish the Celtic Cultural Alliance and Celtic Classic Festival. Today, we've created a warm haven where visitors are "instantly transported across the Atlantic to Ireland...no passport required," offering authentic Celtic gifts in an atmosphere that feels like visiting the old country with friends.
