Saint Patrick’s Plate is a cookbook by acclaimed Irish chef, author, and storyteller Terry McCoy. This unique book intertwines the legends of St. Patrick with recipes featuring the culinary history of his era. Saint Patrick’s Plate contains 60 easy to produce recipes, beautifully illustrated images and photos, all interspersed with stories and legends. Donegal Square is pleased to offer signed copies of Saint Patrick’s Plate cookbook!

The recipes utilize cooking methods and ingredients that were available in the 5th century. The food and cooking in St. Patrick’s time was healthy, high in energy, and free from preservatives. Saint Patrick’s Plate embraces the recent “roots to shoots” movement and explores a healthy diet, inspired by the saint and his saga, with ingredients still available today.

Saint Patrick’s Plate has something for everyone, from first-time cooks to more accomplished chefs. Recipes include fabulous seafood dishes, tasty snacks and starters, mouth-watering desserts, as well as homemade stocks, pasta, jams, cheese, wine, beer, gin and much more.

The Hope For Life Waistcoat Wool was designed so each of the six vibrant colors has a significance. Pink represents Breast Cancer, light blue for Prostate Cancer, lime green for Lymphoma, lavender for All Cancers, white for Lung Cancer, and Purple to honor Caregivers.

Once the tartan was developed, Donegal Square enlisted its customer base to name the tartan. The name “Hope for Life” was chosen because of our hope that someday cancer research will result in a cure.

My entrepreneurial journey began at age 11 in my mother's dress shop in Northern Ireland. After moving to America following a field hockey romance in 1978, I was working as a Civil Engineer in Pennsylvania. When my Dad was diagnosed with a terminal illness, I realized how difficult it was to squeeze in trips back home. Dad's illness became the catalyst for starting a business that would allow me to travel home routinely.

In February 1985, Donegal Square was born—a cultural bridge inspired by my Irish upbringing. Over the decades, my wife Linda and I have developed the shop and helped establish the Celtic Cultural Alliance and Celtic Classic Festival. Today, we've created a warm haven where visitors are "instantly transported across the Atlantic to Ireland...no passport required," offering authentic Celtic gifts in an atmosphere that feels like visiting the old country with friends.
